A disturbing situation arises for bank employee Kelly (Lee Remick) when she’s suddenly grabbed and held captive by an unknown person who insists he won’t harm her if she follows his instructions – which include stealing $100,000 from the bank. Understandably frightened, she tries to alert the FBI but is cut off before she can share many details with Ripley (Glenn Ford). He's a capable detective, and his team quickly establishes communication and begins collaborating with her to stop this man’s scheme while also ensuring her safety and that of her younger sister, Toby (Stefanie Powers). Blake Edwards maintains an engaging rhythm throughout the film as Kelly demonstrates she won’t be easily intimidated and is willing to take chances; the government agent comes to realize she isn't the only person targeted by this clever, deep-voiced criminal. There’s a noticeable connection between the lead actors, and the narrative presents several misleading clues that ultimately led to an ending which brought to mind "The Blue Lamp" (1950). It’s a gripping game of pursuit that is deserving of your time.
