My reaction to Scott Waugh’s latest installment in The Expendables franchise wasn’t positive. It may well be the final film, given that the whole concept relies on celebrating action heroes from the eighties and nineties—actors like Sylvester Stallone stepping into different kinds of roles. Jason Statham seems to dominate this one. His fighting is brutal, accompanied by sarcastic remarks for practically every elimination. The other performers don’t have a lot to contribute here. I wouldn't advise avoiding it entirely because there's plenty of action on display. However, if you’ve been following the series from the start, this one might disappoint when measured against what came before. I rate it 2/5 stars.
