Don't go into this film anticipating a standard zombie horror; you will likely feel let down. It’s probable that viewers will consider the movie dull and the visual effects substandard. However, it rises above being just another cheaply made zombie film with a weak story and execution. As a cinematic work, it is surprisingly well-crafted. What it truly portrays is a man's personal voyage—both in terms of his physical location and his mental state—through an outbreak that results in the deaths of his wife and son. It’s clear this is a film with limited resources. The zombies are portrayed by actors wearing grey and white makeup, supplemented with tomato ketchup for added gore. There aren't many characters throughout the entire movie, and it all unfolds within a confined outdoor area. I almost feel that it could be the work of an exceptionally skilled student in motion picture arts. The film isn’t terrible; it just wasn’t what I was anticipating. I have to concede that there were moments when I found it somewhat tedious. The five-star rating is largely due to its pure filmmaking attributes.
