It's a genuinely enjoyable film that I’d happily watch again and suggest to others. I'm inclined to view almost anything featuring Jane Levy, and she delivers an outstanding performance here; her acting is notably stronger than the other performers involved. The impression I get is that someone with good judgment reviewed the initial movie and pinpointed areas needing improvement. Simply providing a compelling reason for these characters to be assembled at the cabin significantly enhances the story’s appeal compared to the first installment. There are also several scenes later in the film that deviate from the original, which makes this version considerably better. A significant distinction lies in the advancements made in special effects over the 30 years separating the two movies. They do a great job maintaining the pacing of the initial movie and enhancing the effects while staying true to its style. Like the first one, much of the film relies on graphic depictions, but they incorporate enough explanation and storytelling to maintain reasonable character motivations. This is an uncommon illustration of how to successfully update a film, altering it while preserving its essence.
