The film carries on the series well, finding enjoyment in what it draws from. The personalities are engaging, so you become invested and experience emotion when they suffer violent ends—a significant improvement over simply watching generic teenagers disappear without a trace in a remote location. There's plenty of entertaining gore and creatively designed deaths, all while maintaining the central storyline. It creates a feeling of being trapped, with very close-up camera work, and the scene after the credits roll is excellent, referencing Evil Dead Rise.
