This film presents some interesting ideas worth considering. However, the symbolic representation used to examine these concepts feels carelessly put together and doesn’t hold up when examined closely. The action scenes, while well-executed, don’t contribute to the development of the theme; they just fill time between moments of character interaction. The plot and setting share some surface-level resemblances with *The Matrix*, which highlights these flaws even more. *The Matrix* makes an effort to convey its concepts to viewers through careful foreshadowing, but this movie seems intent on overwhelming you with as many notions as quickly as possible, apparently hoping that you won’t realize they lack depth and aren't important. The earlier film incorporates action sequences that are connected to the theme, advance the narrative, and impact the characters’ development. This one just leaves me counting down the seconds until they end so the story can move forward again. It isn't that there's a complete absence of worthwhile points here; it’s more that it seems hesitant to express them without constant, distracting, self-aware jokes.
