Several viewers suggest this movie adhered more closely to its source material than the earlier adaptation starring John Wayne. While I haven’t had the opportunity to read the book, my impression is that the two films share considerable similarities. The specifics may vary, but the fundamental aspects felt largely unchanged. There was an ending sequence that proved a bit sadder than what appeared in the first movie, though it didn't feel out of place. I will say that this film was quite enjoyable. Jeff Bridges delivered a remarkable portrayal of Rooster Cogburn. He reminded me somewhat of John Wayne, and perhaps that’s why I appreciated it so much.
