This feels like a welcome addition to Walt Disney Animation Studios' collection of films. *Encanto* provides 102 minutes of entertainment with substance. The animation is excellent, as one would anticipate from Disney, and the world depicted is wonderfully vibrant and full of life. I appreciate the character designs and their individual stories; each has a distinct quality that’s quite appealing. I'd been hearing about some of the songs from this 2021 film appearing on music charts in the United Kingdom, so I made an effort to avoid listening to them beforehand, wanting to experience them fresh while watching. Now that I have seen it, I think the music is very good – with the exception of "Surface Pressure," which reached number three in the UK charts, I don't imagine I’ll be playing any of it independently, but more significantly, it works really well within the context of the film. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” might eventually become something I enjoy as well. The voice cast is enjoyable to listen to. Stephanie Beatriz portrays Mirabel with ease, and John Leguizamo makes a fantastic Bruno. The other performers, while not particularly remarkable in my view, are all sufficiently entertaining in their parts—specifically María Cecilia Botero and Jessica Darrow.
