It’s been a long time since I first encountered this film (and the subsequent television adaptation), but after finally seeing it, I have to say that it's rather tedious. The narrative is thin, which isn't entirely unexpected, but even the erotic elements failed to make the 92 minutes pass any faster. Sylvia Kristel as Emmanuelle was serviceable, at best. What I really hoped for from this 1970s erotic drama was some level of enjoyment, and instead I just felt bored. **2.0/5**
