“Emily the Criminal” might not be universally appealing, but it manages to achieve a lot. It distinguishes itself from typical crime movies by offering an exploration of the protagonist’s psychology and delving into criminal actions. The film's noir atmosphere resonated with me, and I believe its success as a contained thriller arises from its dedication to realism and a limited scope. Aubrey Plaza also delivers a noteworthy performance, and considering this is John Patton Ford’s first time directing, he warrants praise for his work. Nevertheless, even though it proves enjoyable, the movie doesn't leave a significant mark. Rating: 7.0/10 (Good)
