Austin Butler delivers a truly remarkable and captivating performance—one that is both dazzling and unforgettable—and should certainly earn him recognition with numerous awards. However, even his efforts can’t entirely compensate for the film's shortcomings, including Tom Hanks’ questionable casting choice and the predictable structure common to musical biopics. While Baz Luhrmann’s directorial approach seems appropriate given Elvis Presley’s energetic persona, the director’s vision doesn’t fully materialize. The editing feels rushed and disjointed, and the camera work is constantly in motion, creating a chaotic and disorienting feeling rather than enhancing the film itself. The excessive length also proves to be detrimental. I had wished for something unexpected, but my reservations about Elvis Presley and Luhrmann’s style likely played a part in my experience. Rating: C+
