However, my opinion shifted once I’d finished; it turned out to be a better film than I first realized. It required some consideration afterward for me to change my mind, so patience is needed—wait until the very end before deciding if you liked it. The length felt excessive, but every moment seemed carefully chosen. Understanding the characters took time, and there were multiple perspectives presented through one woman’s experiences. Isabelle Huppert was remarkable; despite the large number of characters featured, she dominated the film. It's among the best performances I've seen from her. The story centers on a boss at a video game design company. The movie begins with her being sexually assaulted in her home by an intruder, and then one employee uses her face as inspiration for an animated character in explicit material related to their game project. This prompts her investigation into the person responsible, which creates suspense and draws you in. There’s also some development needed to explore issues within her family. Eventually, all the mysteries are resolved, and if you want to know how it concludes, you should watch it. > "Michele to her cat: You did not have to claw his eyes out, but scratch him at least." It was France's official submission for the 89th Academy Awards, though recent reports indicate it’s no longer in contention despite being considered for the Golden Globes. It’s directed by the same person who made the original 'Total Recall', and this is his first French film. The story is based on a book called 'Oh...'. I felt like it expanded upon a smaller element of 'The Little Death.' Ultimately, it's an adult story, built around depictions of sexual violence, so you’ll need to be willing to accept certain elements if you want to enjoy it. I didn’t initially connect with the film, but reflecting on the events and piecing them together revealed that it was actually quite good. That final line spoken by a woman leaving her house really brings everything into focus; perhaps that's the true twist. I hadn’t planned to write a review, but felt it deserved one, so this short piece is the result. It's a film for adults, though not necessarily all of them.
