The dialogue feels exceptionally well-crafted, and the characters are portrayed with an admirable level of straightforwardness. They don't mirror actual interactions; instead, they embody how I’d prefer people spoke—with genuine openness. Ella McCay comes across as a character who is both sincere and articulate, and delivering her lines effectively is key to understanding her. The film features a strong narrative progression, and it’s refreshing to encounter a story where the characters' personalities are immediately clear, yet you still find yourself invested in their struggles. It isn't essential to see this one on the big screen; it would work wonderfully as a movie watched at home. Woody, the father figure, is depicted as unfaithful. Considering him and the plot’s direction, I wouldn’t recommend this for a romantic evening out. SPOILER-ish A shortcoming of the film lies in the portrayal of Ella's mother-in-law. The scene was brief, but there was much they needed to convey, and it didn’t quite succeed. It felt overly contrived in its attempt to establish the movie's most disheartening moment.
