Just wishing things would happen doesn’t get you anywhere; action is what’s needed! The promotional materials didn't really grab my attention, and I honestly expected the movie to be bad. However, it turned out to be considerably better than I thought it would be. It's a biographical sports film that manages to be quite uplifting. The story follows a young man in Britain during the 1970s who had aspirations of becoming an Olympian, but he hadn’t yet discovered what sport he was suited for. By his twenties, he finally finds something he’s interested in and dedicates himself to fulfilling a dream he'd held for a long time. The rest of the story shows his path toward one of the world’s biggest competitions where he hopes to succeed. Hugh Jackman wasn’t exceptionally good; he was great as always, but he plays a supporting part. I have a feeling Taron Egerton will be the next big British star. It's worth seeing just for his incredible performance. The real Eddie seemed to enjoy it too. The movie largely focuses on these two characters and I believe incorporating comedy really paid off. The film is beautifully shot, especially those dangerous ski jump sequences which were very well done, and the direction was certainly top-notch. This isn’t so much about the sport itself as it is about demonstrating a person's dedication to their goals. Eddie serves as an example; regardless of his accomplishments, his determination is inspiring. I think young people should watch this, particularly those pursuing their ambitions—not just athletes, but anyone with a goal they are working toward. I’m not sure if I would want to see it again, but one viewing is enough to give you a boost of confidence. It's definitely one of the films you should try to see from 2016. 8/10
