It’s shocking how far Ti West’s career has declined. He used to make some really good horror films, but now he seems to be helping revive the image of people accused of terrible things and who aren't even capable performers. Pretending to be drunk doesn't count as acting. There’s a concerted effort in Hollywood to resurrect Johnny Depp’s career, despite widespread awareness of his history—multiple accusations of abuse and racism, plus allegations of pedophilia (it’s worth noting Winona Ryder’s age when he began pursuing her). I’m not shocked by this, because many people involved in this kind of Hollywood network are themselves accused of abusive behavior. And I suspect Ti West is among them. It's a real letdown. At the same time, Amber Heard has essentially been blacklisted from Hollywood. What did she do? Experience abuse and rape, manage to leave her abuser, face relentless legal battles orchestrated by him, and endure global humiliation at the hands of this abusive person who groomed her into an extremely harmful relationship when she was just 21 and he was 46—old enough to be her father. My point is that I sincerely hope this "movie," which appears to exist solely to improve Depp's reputation, fails miserably. I wouldn’t suggest watching it even to someone I dislike because I am certain it’s as low-quality as the washed-up star it's attempting to rehabilitate. I won't be viewing any more of Ti West's films.
