It's hard to understand why Mel Ferrer agreed to take on his small role in this peculiar movie. Neville Brand delivers a solid performance as "Judd," an unusual older man who operates a rundown motel next to a creek where he keeps an alligator confined. Even though the motel is located far from everything, it still gets regular customers, and predictably, things unfold as one might expect. Meanwhile, Ferrer portrays "Wood," a wealthy man looking for his daughter, believing she’s working for the film's star, “Miss Hattie” (Carolyn Jones), who runs the town’s brothel. There are moments when this is genuinely amusing, and I often thought Jack Elam would have been more suitable in the main part. The movie lacks any real suspense; you can anticipate what will happen at the end. However, it could be enjoyable on a large screen with a few glasses of wine—a ninety-minute diversion of inexpensive, studio-made film that occasionally elicits a chuckle but won't give you chills.
