It would be wise to seek out the *Dune* miniseries from 2000, followed by *Children of Dune* in 2003, instead. Those offer a richer narrative and greater depth. If you’re solely interested in the look of things, then this movie might satisfy, but otherwise, it feels lacking in content and drags on considerably. The earlier miniseries do a superior job of representing what's in the novels; this film simply doesn’t deliver much substance. Despite a sequel being planned, the first installment missed a chance to really establish the foundation for the series. To get the full experience, reading the books or watching those older television productions from between 2000 and 2003 is your best option.
