Sergio Leone delivers another impressive and innovative western, accompanied by Ennio Morricone's distinctive music. This installment features Rod Steiger portraying a less-than-savory bandit who crosses paths with James Coburn, an explosives specialist fleeing from the British. The narrative unfolds across two different time periods, revealing how Coburn ended up in revolutionary Mexico and illustrating the evolving connection between him and Steiger, progressing from potential bank robbers to partners with a more complex bond. Throughout the film, there's ample humor and action sequences—featuring numerous explosions—alongside striking visuals of the setting. The violence occasionally feels excessive, especially as their involvement deepens within the revolution; however, both Steiger and Coburn give strong performances.
