It's strange that a film centered on drivers making escapes and action sequences felt so sluggish. There was an abundance of quiet moments where characters simply stared. *Drive* minimizes spoken words, intending to build up a sense of mystery around the central figure, but the deliberate pace diminished much of the thrill, even with some exciting car chases and violent bursts of action. The absence of dialogue placed a heavy reliance on the actors' ability to convey emotion through expressions, posture, and presence—a task they accomplished remarkably well. The film’s overall look and feel are striking and distinctive, which complemented the visuals. Although there were many good concepts, strong acting, and visually appealing sequences, the rhythm and approach led me to frequently glance at my watch and get up for refreshments while the movie played on. I suspect this simply wasn't a film suited to my tastes, but ultimately, it’s not something I can suggest others see.
