It's really pleasant to watch this story based on real events about a group of people from Wales who put together a horse syndicate using very little money and managed to get their horse to the top of Welsh steeplechasing competitions. Toni Collette, as Jan, portrays a rather ordinary life alongside her husband Brian, played by Owen Teale. Her job at the local club leads her to meet Howard, portrayed by Damian Lewis, an accountant who previously had some negative experiences with owning racehorses. She finds herself interested in the concept, investigates it further, and after gaining support from the community, she manages to acquire a thoroughbred at a low price and convinces trainer Philip Hobbs, played by Nicholas Farrell, to train it. The film then depicts the ups and downs that the villagers experience as they follow "Dream Alliance." The narrative is straightforward and captivating, and so are the performances of the other actors, including Karl Johnson as Kerby, Lynda Baron, and Dame Siân Phillips, who all contribute to the cheerful atmosphere. What happened to their syndicate is already known, and the movie largely adheres to that reality; if you're seeking a couple of hours of lighthearted entertainment with some energetic Welsh singing, this film should appeal to you. I found it quite agreeable.
