Following his confinement within a cryogenic chamber alongside his deceased wife for three years, the weary scientist (Vincent Price) is released, determined to locate the "Scrolls of Life" so he can bring her back. What he doesn’t realize is that his home has been torn down and the necessary documents have disappeared. Accompanied by his assistant, "Vulnavia" (Valli Kemp, who delivers a performance that feels stiff), he journeys to the Nile in search of them, and anyone obstructing him should be wary—even pursuing police officers “Trout” (Peter Jeffrey) and “Waverley” (John Cater). While not as strong as the initial film featuring this character, because the plot is more straightforward and Price’s appearance sometimes seems rather sad, he occasionally pushes things too far. Nevertheless, it features a reasonable story and a supporting ensemble—particularly "Biederbeck" (Robert Quarry), Beryl Reid, and Terry-Thomas, who excels—that collectively maintain a decent rhythm and a subtle feeling of danger as the chaotic and potentially fatal conclusion approaches. You’ll need to be comfortable around beetles to enjoy this one!
