I think stories that have lots of different plot threads and unanswered questions about the setting are frequently misinterpreted, with filmmakers focusing too much on a single character’s journey. Both Olivia Wilde and David Cronenberg seem to finish their films once the central figure has gone through what's expected, which means they abandon other important subjects that deserve more attention. With *Don’t Worry Darling*, I was left feeling let down by an obvious ending, whereas *Crimes of the Future* leaves you with a number of questions and some intriguing but incomplete ideas about its fascinating future setting. Neither movie really does a good job of developing its world. Rating: B-
