It’s a welcome return for the director following a lukewarm reception to his 'Evil Dead' remake. Those familiar with B movies will likely find this film recognizable in some ways, but it still manages to feel fresh and exciting. The brisk pace is due to its efficiency; there are no unnecessary scenes, and the plot gets straight to the action. While the story itself is simple—essentially a single idea—the unfolding events form the core of the movie. The narrative centers on three young burglars who target a house, unaware that the occupant is a blind war veteran. Their plans quickly unravel when they discover themselves trapped inside his home. As they desperately try to escape, they also get closer to what initially drew them there. The situation escalates into something dangerous, and their fate—along with the outcome of their attempt—forms the film's resolution. It’s a genuinely impressive effort, almost feeling like it takes place over a single night, featuring a small cast. The title isn't merely descriptive; it also serves to keep viewers on edge, likely having them sitting forward in their seats throughout. However, I was let down by several issues, or perhaps better described as unexplained elements. For example, the ending felt somewhat absurd, with a character who had ample evidence pointing towards criminal activity being released without consequence. There are other similar instances where explanations are missing, and I suspect there were intended reasons behind them. The writers clearly prioritized delivering a non-stop thriller over delving into these details, and they succeeded in that goal. News of a remake in Kollywood and an announced sequel didn't surprise me, given the ending. A prequel might also be interesting, although a continuation seems like a more compelling direction after what transpired here.
