Dogtooth has all the hallmarks of a Yorgos Lanthimos production. I found it captivating overall. There are some unsettling moments, which is to be anticipated given his style, but ultimately it’s very well done. The story initially seems hard to follow, although it soon becomes understandable and effectively presented. Christos Stergioglou is ideally suited for his character; he's imposing and authoritative. Angeliki Papoulia, Mary Tsoni, and Christos Passalis all deliver memorable performances as the children, with Papoulia and Tsoni being especially impressive. While it doesn’t depend heavily on its cast, they fulfill their roles effectively. Reflecting on it now, I realize that the film unfolds at a deliberate and somewhat wandering pace. However, I didn't perceive it that way while watching, which is something I appreciated. The cinematography is also excellent, although that wasn't surprising considering Lanthimos’ previous work, which was equally impressive.
