The fundamental plot points aren’t groundbreaking for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially when considering how origin stories have been handled before—the narrative follows a path strikingly similar to what was seen in the initial _Iron Man_ film with Tony Stark. However, the way these events unfold is presented through a completely unique and visually striking lens. Some of the attempts at humor don’t quite work and occasionally even hinder the progression of the story. The visual effects are conceptually remarkable, but the final execution sometimes feels lacking. Benedict Cumberbatch delivers a solid performance as Doctor Strange, and most of the cast members are experienced actors; however, they aren't really afforded opportunities to showcase their abilities in a particularly noteworthy way.
