This follow-up to The Shining has some appealing elements, thanks largely to Ewan McGregor and Kyliegh Curran’s solid work, even if Rebecca Ferguson seems to be overacting a bit—though she was entertaining as the bad guy. It does feel excessively lengthy, though; trimming about fifteen to twenty minutes would have helped considerably. The story combines aspects of The Shining with X-Men, and includes touches reminiscent of Monsters Inc. I didn’t dislike it, but I don't really want to watch it again anytime soon. Still, I am curious about what extras might be included in the extended, three-hour Director’s Cut. **3.0/5**
