The film _Uzak_ gave me the impression of being a subdued, thoughtful examination of loneliness—not simply being by yourself, but that deeper sense of disconnection you can experience even when close to another person. I respected Ceylan’s work behind the camera: those extended, static compositions, the cold and bleak feeling, how much communication happened without words. Muzaffer Özdemir seemed completely authentic as Mahmut—trapped in his habits, holding back emotionally—and Mehmet Emin Toprak conveyed a gentle sorrow in his part that lingered with me. I valued the skill and ambiance but didn’t fully feel it on an emotional level. It was expertly crafted, though perhaps a bit too removed for my taste.
