It’s a pleasant, uncomplicated Disney movie intended to take advantage of the popularity dinosaurs had in the nineteen nineties thanks to Jurassic Park! The plot involves a dinosaur egg hatching within a group of lemurs. "Aladar" is an iguanodon who lives with his adopted family until a large meteorite falls into the sea, forcing them to flee toward higher ground before a massive wave arrives. What follows is a predictable sequence of events as they search for somewhere new to live. The animation looks impressive and the characters are likeable too. However, the narrative feels unoriginal and takes a back seat to the cutting-edge visuals. It’s unfortunate because that animation eventually seems less special, which diminishes the film overall. Twenty years later, there's not much about it that makes it memorable. Nevertheless, it provides entertainment and is quite charming for its length of eighty minutes.
