Having experienced this installment of the *Dark Horse* films first—and so far, the only one I saw when it initially came out in theaters—I feel a certain contentment knowing that it has gradually become widely considered a top choice within the series, alongside the very first film. It feels considerably more inventive than the previous entry, and benefits from having notable actors like Jeremy Irons and Samuel L. Jackson in supporting roles, to say nothing of what appears to be the best director the franchise has ever had. It was really good to revisit this movie, and I still have nightmares about that frightening Katya (portrayed by composer Sam Phillips) severing my head...
