The film failed to live up to its intriguing premise, largely because Scott Eastwood seemed incapable of embodying a layered personality and the writing lacked depth. Ezra’s threatening presence required considerably more development, and hints about his relationship with Jackson felt awkwardly presented and poorly timed. It's disappointing that they squandered an opportunity to develop a chilling psychological western. It possessed the potential to be exceptionally well done. Despite its shortcomings, it is striking how much Scott Eastwood resembles his father; in certain scenes, they are practically indistinguishable.
