The echoes of 'Top Gun: Maverick' are difficult to ignore, but 'Devotion' is still worthwhile viewing. Jonathan Majors delivers a strong performance, and there are moments where his acting really shines. Glen Powell, who was also in another film from 2022, is good as well. I don’t believe their characters quite spark with ideal chemistry, but I appreciated watching them and found myself respecting the people they portray, which were based on true events. The movie looks nice, and it's great to see practical effects used. Kevin LaRosa coordinated the aerial stunts; he also worked on that 'Top Gun' sequel. The music toward the end was really enjoyable—it perfectly suited the mood of the film’s final moments. It is a bit disappointing that this movie wasn't released at a different point in time, but I still like it for what it is.
