This film, much like the progressive rock music it portrays, feels like a massive waste of skill and opportunity, though it does have some genuinely enjoyable moments scattered within. The initial twenty minutes suggested a promising addition to the horror-comedy category; it wasn’t destined for "Dead Alive" greatness, but I was initially excited. However, after that strong start, the movie seemed to lose sight of any underlying ideas, logical flow, or organization, simply drifting until its conclusion. The puppet work and practical effects are quite impressive, making it worthwhile just for those aspects, and a handful of amusing jabs at progressive rock were also welcome.
