I’m not sure it's appropriate to suggest this, but I believe this series might be losing its spark – the storyline feels quite uninspired. The Gru family now includes a new child who isn't particularly fond of his dad, which complicates things further when their old enemy, Maxime Le Mal, breaks free from prison with plans for payback against the person responsible for his incarceration. To ensure everyone’s safety, Silas moves the family to a secure location where they must pose as normal members of an affluent tennis club. However, one of these people, Poppy, is aware of their secret and uses that knowledge to pressure Gru into helping her steal Lenny the badger from Principal Übelschlecht at his former school. This escapade draws the headmistress’s attention, and when she sees footage of what happened, she immediately contacts Maxime, who comes up with a scheme to kidnap the baby and give him wings! The Minions – along with the new Super Minions – still find ways to have some laughs as they discover their new surroundings include a vending machine and unlimited popcorn. There are moments of humor in the conversations, but the plot itself is quite familiar, and the animation seems somewhat dated now. What once felt fresh doesn't appear so remarkable anymore, and the writing and character development aren’t particularly noteworthy. It does become more engaging during the final ten minutes, though the previously unique combination of danger and chaos has mostly disappeared.
