It’s a promising idea, and I'm puzzled that Disney didn’t release it in theaters. Considering television production values, it works well across the board. The actors were well-chosen, although the story didn’t seem to give everyone equal attention; perhaps they are saving individual character arcs for future installments. The movie centers on the children of classic Disney villains, who have been given a place at Auradon Prep, close to where their parents were exiled. This gives them an opportunity to forge their own identities and distance themselves from their parents’ negative legacies. Whether they'll embrace this chance or seek retribution for past wrongs forms the rest of the story. Like many fairy tales, it incorporates musical numbers, though the songs are fairly ordinary. The acting is good, and the visuals are quite nice—bright and eye-catching. I believe this style started with the success of 'Maleficent.' Parents shouldn’t anticipate a strong moral compass, because the film focuses on villains and their offspring, emphasizing negative aspects. However, as expected, everything resolves positively, which could be seen as a lesson for children. The director is known for ‘Hocus Pocus,’ so I was eager to see it when it became available. I ultimately watched it and enjoyed it, but it’s not an exceptional film. Children will likely enjoy it, particularly those familiar with the characters and their backgrounds. There's a lot of potential here, but it’s best to have modest expectations to fully appreciate it. I understand they are already working on a sequel, slated for release later in the year. Hopefully, I can watch that one sooner. _6/10_
