Demoni, helmed by Lamberto Bava and scripted with Dario Argento, Dardano Sacchetti, and Franco Ferrini, features performances from Urbano Barberini, Natasha Hovey, Karl Zinny, Paola Cozzo, Fiore Argento, and Geretta Giancarlo. Claudio Simonetti composed the music, and Gianlorenzo Battaglia handled the cinematography. This is a delightfully bizarre Spaghetti Horror film; the story involves individuals finding themselves confined within a Berlin cinema that’s suddenly besieged by hungry demons. It's possible to see some surprising layers beneath the surface of Bava’s movie—it takes place in a cinema and incorporates a film that seems to materialize, in a way. Ultimately, though, it feels like something intended for horror fans eager to dive into its wild, comic-book style thrills. The writing isn't great, nor is the dubbed audio, presenting characters who feel generic and leaving plot threads unresolved so they can move on to the next burst of gore. However, the unrestrained nature of the violent scenes and the film’s quick tempo make for an entertaining experience. Even the soundtrack is erratic, shifting from standard synth sounds of the eighties to bursts of heavy metal—a genuinely enjoyable contrast. It earns a rating of 7/10.
