I was familiar with this unusual, tragic filmmaker primarily through collections of Kenneth Anger’s challenging short films, and by noticing Cammell acting, at an early point in his career, within Anger's 'Lucifer Rising'. Julie Christie is captivating here, managing to be both beautiful and strangely believable in a strange combination of 'Rosemary's Baby' with science fiction touches similar to those found in 'Colossus: The Forbin Project'. The distinctive mood and the director’s clear vision are enough reason to see this film. It’s definitely worth buying and viewing again for serious movie lovers who enjoy something different.
