This film tells of a woman who attempts to manipulate her mother-in-law by fabricating a story about a young girl’s ghost, hoping to inherit money; however, there's something much darker at play. Coming from Roger Corman and featuring Francis Ford Coppola as writer and director, the movie holds appeal primarily through its nostalgic qualities. It doesn’t offer any real surprises because the plot unfolds predictably. I suspect that when it was first released, audiences might have found it quite shocking, but now it's just not bad.
