Deep Blue Sea proved to be an entertaining thriller, even though its storyline lacked substance; I found myself captivated from beginning to end during its fairly lengthy, noisy 100 minutes. The premise—a medical team attempting to discover a treatment for Alzheimer's disease by studying sharks within a remote oceanic research center—sets the stage for some enjoyable mayhem, all while raising questions about questionable ethics. While not striving for complete believability, the film delivers exciting action and suspense, alongside the enjoyment of scenes involving rising water levels, plus a protagonist who’s fun to dislike. It's worth watching. (Grade B-). TN.
