The film blends fictional elements with documentary-style storytelling to recount the events surrounding a significant scientific breakthrough. It draws from the true accounts of two women living concurrently, who shared no apparent connection beyond their involvement in a particular matter. Consequently, the narrative unfolds through two distinct story arcs presented sequentially and interwoven across almost three decades. The timeline begins in the 1960s with two young sisters making a pact, but a decade later, one sister’s life is irrevocably altered by the death of her sibling from cancer. This marks the beginning of the other sister's struggle against the illness that claimed members of her family. This was made on a limited budget and filmed entirely within a month. Numerous actresses appear, even in minor roles; I initially assumed Helen Hunt would provide narration, but the cast also includes Maggie Grace, Alice Eve, Aaron Paul, among others. Everyone gave commendable performances, though Samantha Morton truly carried the film. I wasn't aware of the story’s subject matter when I chose to watch it, and I am pleased with the result. However, the material leans heavily toward a documentary feel, particularly in relation to Helen Hunt’s character’s storyline. It also feels like an extended short film with a compelling narrative. I believe it's worth seeing because of its portrayal of an important scientific discovery. From that viewpoint, I wholeheartedly recommend it; however, as purely entertainment, it is merely average. You can then determine if it aligns with what you are looking for. 7/10
