I’ve been knocked out by what I think they call “man flu,” feeling absolutely dreadful. Confined to bed, it appeared somewhat similar to "Conan," and needing something simple and entertaining, I decided to watch. It does resemble "Conan" and many other movies; the main character (Rick Hill – that sounds like a stage name, doesn’t it?) is tasked with a mission. He has to get a sword from a witch and then face the villainous sorcerer "Munkar" (Bernhard Erhard) to claim a chalice and an amulet granting him incredible abilities. Only by obtaining all three can he eliminate them and restore tranquility to the kingdom. What follows is surprisingly enjoyable, though certainly not good—not even close. The hero struts around in his leather pants while director James Sbardellati presents scantily clad female warriors, dancers, and mud wrestlers. Naturally, his trousers seem permanently attached, but the women might as well be wearing tissue paper. There’s no real sense of danger as our hero gradually proves himself worthy to compete in the "Big Tournament"—imagine Wimbledon with a mace and chain. “Munkar” would fit better in a Hammer or "Carry-On" film, projecting about as much threat as a butterfly; and the acting is uniformly terrible, matching the quality of the script. Thankfully, it's relatively brief, but honestly—I’m eagerly anticipating the next installment!
