This version of _Death Note_ is distinct from the anime and manga, yet it remains an enjoyable adaptation. Those familiar with the animated series will recall that the initial episode, "Rebirth," begins within the Shinigami Realm. This setting isn't shown in the film, nor do we ever go to that place, but I don’t consider this a significant issue because Ryuk’s introduction is genuinely striking and frightening. The movie maintained a brisk tempo without feeling hurried, and I didn’t find myself confused at any point. Furthermore, the deaths were quite graphic. And I have to mention that Margaret Qualley is absolutely fantastic; her portrayal of Mia Sutton (originally Misa Amane) is just wonderful. Nat Wolff also did a pretty good job as Light Turner (originally Light Yagami). Keith Stanfield’s interpretation of L was unlike what I expected, but not necessarily in a bad way. And, predictably, Willem Dafoe as Ryuk is flawless!
