Dead Rising: Watchtower delivers a zombie story that’s undeniably cheesy and filled with familiar elements, clearly made on a limited budget. Surprisingly, these shortcomings contribute to its appeal as a passable, enjoyable film. The acting isn't particularly strong, and the narrative relies heavily on well-worn conventions, but the storyline involving a vaccine for zombism offers a fresh perspective within the zombie genre. I appreciated that the conclusion didn’t force a continuation with unresolved plot threads. It was also nice to see nods to the source material—Rob Riggle portrays Frank West from the games, and characters construct unusual tools to combat the undead. The movie is certainly packed with cliches, but despite its imperfections, Dead Rising: Watchtower wasn't a complete letdown. I wouldn’t suggest it for all audiences, though; it’s best suited for those who appreciate lower-tier zombie movies and are looking for something undemanding to watch.
