I’m unfamiliar with this story. The setup—a police officer mourning a fallen colleague, an unscrupulous FBI operative, a woman seeking retribution—is familiar territory; I've encountered those elements previously. However, the film then takes an unexpected turn, introducing a group of skinhead white supremacists engaged in racist violence and featuring Mr. Miami Vice himself, appearing in 1989, with a clear lack of concern for his appearance, something I haven’t seen before. The narrative moves from Los Angeles to rural America, interspersed with numerous gun battles. The central character is flawed and seems to manage only because he's experienced so much, not due to any particular skill or talent. Ultimately, it emerges as a distinctive film, crafted with considerable care. What could elevate the movie further, making it even more singular, would be portraying those white supremacists as possessing the same deeply rooted familial connections seen in documentaries about the KKK. Instead, they are depicted as stereotypical psychopaths, which is surprisingly less unsettling. Despite that minor shortcoming, it’s a film you probably haven't encountered and likely won't see again unless the lead character were an exceptionally muscular former Navy SEAL with all the accompanying special effects.
