Dead in Tombstone number one was decent enough, nothing special but acceptable. This second film, however, didn’t quite live up to expectations. The premise itself isn't bad; it’s the kind of story I would normally find appealing. Sadly, its execution falls short. Danny is meant to be a demonic agent with otherworldly abilities and intended to deliver some serious punishment. Think Ghost Rider, but set in the Old West. But he doesn’t come across that way at all. He spends most of his screen time looking gloomy and attempting to mend fences with his daughter. He fails to project any real sense of menace or demonstrate those supposed supernatural abilities. When he does take action, it's just a clumsy series of shots fired indiscriminately, usually resulting in him being wounded and seemingly killed. Then he’s brought back, and the cycle repeats itself. The film finally delivers some supernatural sequences near the conclusion, but by then it’s far too late to redeem it, and even those moments aren't particularly remarkable. Overall, the writing feels pretty flat and unbelievable. It would work better as an episode of television than a full-length movie. It’s truly disappointing. I usually enjoy seeing Danny Trejo portray tough characters.
