It seems odd that filmmakers would place explosives on a vehicle traveling through a tunnel where immense amounts of water are situated above; however, when you require a scenario for Sylvester Stallone’s character to intervene, a ridiculous setup is necessary. The plot thickens with the appearance of a getaway car carrying robbers crashing into this truck, resulting in impressive special effects and essentially recreating an underground version of "The Poseidon Adventure" (1972), as Stallone attempts to guide survivors toward safety. The film’s pacing feels excessively slow; Stallone abandons the rescue team on the surface to initiate the operation, but not until roughly thirty minutes have passed establishing the disaster and introducing characters—a portion that could easily be omitted. Similar to its earlier seafaring predecessor, there are some genuinely suspenseful scenes where everyone's safety hangs in the balance, and Stallone motivates the group with a combination of encouragement and intimidation. Nevertheless, the entire production adheres rigidly to predictable patterns, including the inclusion of a dog, and many characters ultimately earned their fates.
