It was enjoyable. This seems like a solid choice for a weekend movie or something to watch late at night. It’s not particularly profound, but the special effects are well-done and the acting is of good quality. The action sequences, when they're needed, work pretty well. There's a nice rhythm from one scene to the next that prevents it from feeling like a low-budget film. The humor is effective without being over-the-top or corny. I found the sector chief amusing, given his rough demeanor. Snoop Dogg was alright, in his usual relaxed style. I still think he would have been better suited for the role of Jimmy Bones; that movie really felt like a five-dollar purchase at Walmart. He’d probably be great as a powerful figure or boss type, especially if he doesn't need to display much emotion. He delivers lines well, which could lead to some good comedy if someone knows how to write for him. All the performers did a commendable job with their parts. The villainess was effective, very arrogant and despicable (and easy on the eyes). The two vampire-hunting brothers were both funny and handled the action scenes exceptionally well. And the special effects, car chases, home invasion, and nest scenes were all top quality; it’s clear the studio got a good return on their investment with the stunt team. I do think they pushed the "weak" sidekick trope a bit far. I wasn't expecting what happened to Franco's character to unfold as it did. I thought he might pull himself together when things got intense, but the writers took him in an unexpected direction that, though not entirely original, made sense within the story’s context. And for some reason, I keep mixing up Dave Franco and Zac Efron... (maybe it's their eyebrows?) Franco has been in a fair number of teen movies and big-budget films—sort of. I liked the _Fright Night_ remake, _Neighbors 1 & 2_, (despite Seth Rogan being off-putting since _Santa Inc._) and the _Now You See Me 1 & 2_ movies. He’s not bad at all; he did well with his character (and credit to his stunt double) in this film. As I mentioned earlier, it's a good vampire movie. It isn't quite like _Fright Night_ or _30 Days of Night_, but it definitely holds its own. If I had to compare it to something else, I’d say it’s closer to _From Dusk Till Dawn_.
