I found this to be quite entertaining, and what stood out most was the atmosphere—a murky, unsettling feeling that permeated everything. It frightened my son, who’s developing a taste for horror movies, considerably more than many of the scarier films he's seen previously; it even gave him nightmares for some time. Despite my appreciation for Jennifer Connelly’s and Walter Salles’ contributions to film, I suspect I’ll steer clear of the English-language adaptation purely out of habit.
