It’s undeniably corny, but not without its merits. I definitely had moments where I felt awkward while watching 'Dangerous Minds', though it wasn’t necessarily bad—just because of some scenes that were a bit much. Michelle Pfeiffer’s acting was mostly enjoyable to me, even if there are instances where she seems to be laying it on just a tiny bit thick – that’s my take, anyway. Aside from Pfeiffer, the movie doesn't have a lot going for it. George Dzundza (as Hal) has a few good parts, and so do Renoly Santiago, Bruklin Harris, and Wade Dominguez. The main character is really the only one who manages to hold your attention. The storyline works well enough, as does everything else, actually. They play "Gangsta's Paradise" (or at least it seems like three times), which I think is definitely too few—it’s such a great song by Coolio and L.V.
