The film felt drawn out, unsurprising, and paced slowly. Once the credits rolled after 161 minutes, I didn’t have any significant complaints about *'Dangal'* because it does get better as it progresses. However, the initial portion of this movie was tedious; the story initially failed to be inspiring—it seemed more like a demonstration of how not to parent. The conclusion also felt rather exaggerated, particularly the scene involving the storage closet. The acting is quite good, though. Aamir Khan delivers a strong performance as Mahavir, while Fatima Sana Shaikh (and Zaira Wasim) are remarkable in their roles as Geeta. Sanya Malhotra (and Suhani Bhatnagar) also deserve recognition. Still, it doesn’t offer anything particularly original within the genre of Bollywood sports biopics. The plot follows a familiar pattern seen in films like *'Mary Kom'* from 2014, *'Brothers'* from 2015, and even *'Patiala House'* from 2011. For me, this 2016 film simply feels overly long and contrived, which diminishes the otherwise worthwhile story. The main actors are the only truly strong aspects of it, in my view. It’s been very well-received by others, so who am I to say? Everyone has their own opinions.
