I stumbled across this entertaining movie while going through a collection of Maureen O'Hara films from Turner Classic Movies, and I suggest others check it out if they appreciate movies from that time period. I’ve enjoyed both films I’ve watched by Arzner, who was an important early female director—and as far as I know, the first openly lesbian one—with her other film being the excellent pre-Code portrayal of alcoholism, 'Merrily We Go to Hell'. It's a worthwhile watch if you are drawn to musicals from that period, appreciate Maureen O’Hara or Lucille Ball (she was strikingly beautiful in her early films!), or want to explore the work of pioneering female and/or lesbian directors. Arzner—based on my experience with her two films so far—certainly earned her place in the film industry.
